An Intriguing Storyline and Celebratory Project
‘Vampire Dormitory’ is a manga written by Ema Touyama and published by Kodansha. The anime adaptation is a special project to celebrate the 70th anniversary of Nakayoshi, the magazine where the manga first started serialization in 2018. It also marks Ema Touyama’s 20th anniversary as a manga author.
The story revolves around a crossdressing girl named Mito who finds herself entangled in a dangerous relationship with an obsessive vampire named Ruka. Living on the streets with no family to rely on, Mito disguises herself as a boy. One day, Ruka saves her from a perilous situation and offers her a proposition. He asks her to become his subservient thrall, allowing him to feed on her whenever he desires, in exchange for a place to live in the boys’ dorm. However, Mito’s secret identity as a girl puts her in constant danger, and the budding romance between her and Ruka further complicates matters.
Talented Team Behind the Anime Adaptation
The anime adaptation will be directed by Nobuyoshi Nagayama, known for his work on series such as ‘Ayaka,’ ‘Smile Down the Runway,’ and ‘Life Lessons with Uramichi Oniisan.’ Touko Machida, the series composer of ‘A Playthrough of a Certain Dude’s VRMMO Life,’ ‘Smile Down the Runway,’ and ‘Life Lessons with Uramichi Oniisan,’ will be in charge of the script. Naomi Tsuruta, who worked as a co-animation director on Episode 7 of ‘NieR:Automata Ver1.1a,’ will handle character design. The animation production will be done by Studio Blanc.
