Laffitte’s Whereabouts: Theories and Speculations
One Piece fans have been eagerly anticipating the appearance of Laffitte, the Demon Sheriff of the Blackbeard Pirates. However, his entry on Egghead Island may not unfold as expected. According to spoilers from One Piece chapter 1109, the Five Elders have invaded the island, setting the stage for a potential all-out fight. This raises the question: where is Laffitte and what is he up to?

Speculations suggest that Laffitte could currently be in Impel Down, the infamous prison known for housing the most dangerous criminals. Laffitte, also known as the Demon Sheriff, originates from the West Blue. Interestingly, another pirate who shares the ‘Demon’ alias is Donquixote Doflamingo, the Heavenly Demon.

After his defeat in the Dressrosa Arc, Doflamingo was captured and imprisoned in Impel Down. Given the connection between Impel Down and Dante Alighieri’s poem, Inferno, which describes a journey through nine levels of Hell, it is possible that Laffitte may visit Doflamingo in the prison and aid in his escape.
Laffitte’s Connection to Brook and the Grasshopper Kingdom
Another theory gaining popularity among fans involves a potential connection between Laffitte and Brook, a former crewmate of the Straw Hat Pirates. While Brook’s current whereabouts are also unknown, some speculate that he may belong to the Grasshopper Kingdom based on a reference in Chapter 501. Similarly, fans believe that Laffitte could also be associated with the Grasshopper Kingdom due to shared characteristics such as wardrobe and carrying sticks.

Furthermore, both Laffitte and Brook have a fondness for music. In particular, Laffitte is often seen humming a song believed to be ‘Bink’s Sake,’ the favorite song of Calico Yorki, the captain of the Rumbar Pirates. The Rumbar Pirates perished 52 years ago due to poison, but fans speculate that Yorki may still be alive and had a family in his hometown in the West Blue.

Considering these clues, it is theorized that Laffitte’s true identity could be Calico Laffitte, the son of Calico Yorki. This theory is further supported by the absence of any pirates from the West Blue who have inherited the ‘D.’ initial, making Laffitte a potential candidate.
While this theory may seem plausible, it is important to note that the reason for Laffitte being associated with the ‘D.’ remains speculative.
